Peace at Work

The topic for this coming Sunday's Stay Peaceful radio show is Peace at Work.

Some of the ideas that surrond this topic are:

How do we conduct ourselves at work?
How can we have peaceful relationships at work?
Is our work furthering the cause of "Peace", personally, spiritually, philosophically, globally?
Who is experiencing peace at work and what are they doing to accomplish it, maintain it, and spread it?

These and other ideas will be explored on the next Stay Peaceful on Sunday, September 2nd at 1pm Pacific.

I hope you can tune in.

Stay Peaceful,
Jason

Peace and Change

The topic for this coming Sunday's Stay Peaceful radio show is Peace and Change.

Change can be one of the most difficult aspects of achieving peace. What does change entail? How can we be open to change?

Our society seems to give great value to getting youth activated into creating change. Is this the right approach? If so, how can we best establish change through the actions of youth? Are there victories accomplished by youth in the pursuit of peace?

What inspires people to change? Is it fear? Is it outrage? Does suffering or tragedy have to occur before change is embraced?

We will be discussing these and other relevant thoughts around this week's topic of Peace and Change.

I hope you can tune in.

Stay Peaceful,

Jason

The Challenge of the Past and Kindness

We all have stories of struggle from our past. We had the struggle, survived the experience, and then proceeded with the rest of our lives.

The Challenge of the Past seems to be a call to future kindness and compassion. As I reflect on those things that have transpired in my life and then the things my friends and acquaintances have happening in their lives, I sense that my tests and difficulties are blessings for others.

While this idea is far from new or really that profound, I encourage you to reflect on its truth. How can one have sincere compassion if life has been the proverbial bed of roses? You can't expect a person to "relate" or share the real impact of a test or difficulty when no understanding of such a test or difficulty is part of that person's past.

Could this be the reason that we hear so many un-loving, cruel and non-compassionate rhetoric coming from those in our society who are privileged or who have great fortune or have embraced narrow views?

Kindness seems to be an outcome, rather than an action, in this case. For how can one show kindness and compassion if no tests or difficulties have provided humility?

I am far from claiming myself a humble person. I am  a prideful, egotistic person who often revels in my "accomplishments". Yet, every thoughtful person, every sacred text, and every leader that has gained respect, agrees with the principle that the self, the ego, or pride leads a person astray from "the Path."

“Kindness should become the natural way of life, not the exception.” - Buddha

Peace and Kindness

On Sunday's show we will be exploring the topic of peace and kindness.

All of us proclaim that kindness is a virtue that we all appreciate and value. Some question arise from this reality.

What does it mean to be kind? Can kindness be contagious? Does kindness promote peace or affirm antagonism? When is kindness not the way? Is kindness authentic, or is it simply a veiled form of selfishness? What are "random acts" of kindness, really? Are they random? By definition, are they kind?

These and other ideas will be our journey on Sunday.

So, tune in at noon, Sunday, August 19th, 2012.

92.5 FM, Kamloops. Stream live online at http://www.thex.ca/home.php

Great Quote on Kindness

A mistake made by many people with great convictions is that they will let nothing stand in the way of their views, not even kindness.

Peace and the Family

Today's broadcast will discuss the ideas and notions surrounding "Peace and the Family".

This will prove to be a rather challenging topic, as many of us have quite a turbulent relationship with family. Nonetheless, the family tends to be the place where most of us seek comfort, love and protection. For the majority of us, the family serves as a great example of that fortress and sanctuary that we all need.

I hope you can tune in.

Peace and Religious Harmony

Peace and religious harmony come about through taking action, not necessarily through making prayers and good wishes. In order to carry action out, enthusiasm is very important, and enthusiasm comes from being clear about our goal and the possibility of our fulfilling it. Here, we need educate young people about our ultimate goal, peace in the world, and how to fulfil it by cultivating inner peace within themselves.

1st Radio Show!

Welcome to "Stay Peaceful", the blog associated with the "Stay Peaceful" radio show and with the concept and practice called "Stay Peaceful".

I started this blog as a support for my radio show, but even as I start writing this first blog, I sense something greater can be accomplished from this meagre endeavour.

The concept of "Stay Peaceful" is evolving as I embark on this journey presented to me by my Creator. I have hosted a progressive rock radio show for almost 8 full years now, and I have said the phrase "Stay Peaceful and Prog On!" as a parting sentiment at the end of every show.

When I was faced with naming this second radio show, I was stumped until I realized that I had indeed created a title all these years. All I had to do was trim the last part of the phrase, Prog On, and leave the main, more widely understood, part to speak the sentiment of the show.

So, "Stay Peaceful" will focus on ideas, writings, and opinions on how to achieve peace, foster peace, and maintain peace. When I say "peace", I mean peace in all its forms: personal, political, spiritual, philosophical and practical.

Can peace be attained? Yes. how do we do it? That's what this blog and the radio show is all about.

Please join me on this journey.

Stay Peaceful,
Jason
